Avion has received FAA-PMA approval for a replacement Piper control wheel. This wheel is a direct replacement for original 'bow tie' and 'rams horn' control wheels. They are installed in the same manner as the originals and the set are complete with installation hardware.  Most early Pipers have a .75" diameter torque tube (shaft) and later models have 1.125" diameter tubes.  The control wheel is available with the appropriate installation kit to fit both these shafts. 

The aluminum cast wheel is cored for internal cables which can be routed down the torque tube or through a 'coiled cord' to the panel.  An integral map light is available.  The wheels are available in Black or Piper Tan and the center hub is available in a choice of colored imitation leather. 

These control wheels are approved FAA-PMA replacements for  OEM Piper P/N 62818  which are subject to Airworthiness Directive AD 64-06-06.  Avion replacement wheels are an approved alternate method of compliance  (AMOC) for AD-64-0606.
